“And yesterday at Starbucks there was a guy who’s entire head was tattooed. He scared my grand daughter, heck he scared me. It never occurred to me to ask him to leave.”

You know what though? He could have been a swell guy! Kinda like that Dentyne commercial where the two older women tell the biker dude on the subway that he was sweet breath. “Oh I’ve enjoyed it since 16th street” or something like that.

No way. There is something fundamentally amiss with someone who covers their body in tattoos. The time, money, and pain spent getting his entire scalp covered in tattoos suggests there is something clinically wrong. Even if he has never done anything wrong, loves his mom, believes in Jesus, helps old ladies across the street after they faint at his appearance, he has defaced the gift God has given him.

Moral relativism will suggest that he is merely different. Were he of another culture, particularly a primitive one, I might agree, but he is of this culture and, consciously or subconsciously, he is direct rebellion with western culture. Someone will suggest he is making a personal statement. Perhaps, but all he really seems to be saying is “I will never work in corporate America or marry well.” Someone is bound to suggest that you cannot judge a book by its cover. Well, yes you can and often you better. The swastika in the center of Chuckie’s forehead says you better not invite him to your next family gathering. Furthermore, his actions, which speak louder than words, suggest that the time money and effort spent obtaining the so called art work could have and should have been better spent elsewhere. There is a reason that the people who have achieved high levels of success and competency are not covered in tattoos.
