The pit bull thing is a real hot button issue. My personal opinion is that it’s a lot breeding, some conditioning and some just individual dog personalities. It’s hard not to notice that pit owners often fit a certain demographic. But as I said, it’s an extreme hot button issue and I usually avoid it in discussion forums.

When I got my most recent dog, I told the breeder what personality traits I was looking for.

There are breed characteristics, but deeper still are individual personality (or dogality) traits.

Very true. I have a friend who questioned/ recommended that I get a dog like a Doberman or Pitbull.

I'm about 6', at the time I was about 200#, built like a football player. He figured a guy my size should have a "mans" dog. My response was that I don't need a dog to "protect" me. Don't beware of dog. Beware of owner.

I had an Irish Setter then and I have an Irish Setter now. (Had the gentlest Golden between the 2).
Irish Setters are characteristically very happy, gregarious dogs with a strong stubborn streak. PERFECT for me.

Pits are most often owned by white trash, negro trash and Latino trash

And pits in their care behave predictably

Pits or Staffies owned by responsible owners are far less trouble

I’ve owned Alsatians..Dobes...Giant Schnauzers....many Rotts.....American bulldogs...more dangerous than much smaller Pits in my opinion

And i ve owned genuine southern bred lotsa heart Pit Bulls

All bulldogs are stubborn.... and more likely to be dog aggressive

Bulldogs are less smart than Nazi dogs by far.....I’m talking IQ strata here

All those dogs I listed can kill you.....little kids should not be left alone long with any of them unless years and years of proven track record and training

But I’d rather be attacked by a pit than a mature male Rott or Done or GSD...NO QUESTION

Worst dog attack I know of on a specialist dog handler was from a large 90 pound Hoytt dobe ...same place my red came from....excellent strain of Robes.....this one had been abused
91 stitches.....if trainer had not had choke collar on said dog he would died

These big Germans are smart and take down target....not leg grabbers

I own a Johnson ABD bitch who will kill any animal except a stud dog that she can but is a wuss on people...I would leave a toddler with her

And a 18 month old Serbian Rott teenager who already weighs 140 and whose daddy weighs 170-180

He will go to the sleeve at 2 years old.....good with family but don’t tease him

Me and Wifey are Alpha name and Alpha estrogen to him

Everyone else is his subordinate in his pack outlook
