I’m an academic. I’m black. I’ll be damned if some undergrads (or even grad students) are going to tell me what I have to teach and do research in. Do they realize how that demand sounds? It’s as if minorities can’t work in any areas other than those that have to do with social justice. And, news flash, kids, it’s gonna be hard as hell to find 2 minorities for each department. Ain’t gonna happen; there just aren’t that many minorities, evenly distributed across disciplines, and assuming that they don’t include Asians (the forgotten minority) in their demands.
Jeesh. I thought we left this stuff in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.
