St. Louis is the reason the Rangers got to the finals. The Rangers have been rudderless since Messier left and that is over 20 years ago.

Whoopi Goldberg is a ‘notable hockey fan’ ?

Maybe I need to drink more.

I want Shea Weber to win the Norris because he has earned it for the past few years and been outvoted.

As a Ranger fan I have to take issue with your “rudderless” comment.

They missed the playoffs seven years in a row and then Jagr came in and single-handedly led them to the playoffs. He should have won the MVP.

Callahan was a great captain and led Tortorella’s hard banging Black and Blue Rangers to first place in the east two years ago and to the eastern finals. They were short a D when Sauer got hurt or would have gone to the finals.

Then there is Lundqvist who gives them a chance in every game.

I hate how far back they’ve pushed the award. I liked them before game 4 of the finals, it was part of the season and part of the celebration of the sport. Now it’s some addendum before the start of free agency marks the beginning of the next year.

Not disagreeing with how good the Rangers played. I am talking about a leader. Messier, Leetch were leaders.

You can get far with talent alone. It’s the leader that gets you over the hump.

On a different subject, you ever read Blue Seat Blogs? I actually use some of Torts systems for the team I coach.

The Ranger are obviously (unfortunately for me) better than the Islanders, who have been in “rebuild mode” for at least the passed 8 years.

Terrible Ted lived in a house on my street in Detroit in the late 1940s. The street would get so hard-packed with snow and frozen rain that we kids could skate on it. Ted would drive by as we were playing hockey. We’d whoop and holler at him and he’d smile and wave back at us but we couldn’t get him to play with us.

I’m now in Texas. I came back to NY a couple of years back and went to a Rangers vs Islanders game. 35 years later they still do the Potvin Sucks chant.

Center Sid Abel later replaced by Alex Delvecchio along with wingers Lindsay and Howe were the famous "Production Line" ...

Ted Lindsay started the NHL tradition of picking up the Stanley Cup from the table and skating it around the rink over his head in victory after winning the final playoff game.
