Awww, dangit!
I know he was 98, but still. All those great characters - Tuco Ramirez, Calvera, Leon B. Little in Tough Guys, etc.
RIP to a magnificent character actor.

I saw TGTB&TU first run at the Strand in Summit, NJ, IIRC, and I'll never forget
Tuco busting out of that window in the opening scene. First I ever knew of Eli Wallach.

He also played the General in Lord Jim starring Peter O’Toole. His performance in that role was brilliant.

An under appreciated role was as an Israeli spymaster in The Impossible Spy, a movie about Israeli spy, Eli Cohen, based on a true story.

Adiós to one of the worst best actors (and vice-versa) in the business. Definitely a Rod Steiger Award winnah!
