Yesterday.

The time vortex sucked you in for 24 hours?

:)

Andrew Talansky was a DNS this morning.

Wished his team well.

Sad but not surprised that Talansky did not start. What a stirring performance yesterday. I honestly had tears in my eyes as he crossed the line.

That’s one reason I find the tour fascinating ... it sometimes teaches a lesson that no one really wants to learn ... and Andy will hopefully come back stronger, more hungry and ready for the podium.

Kind of quiet day today.

Hey, what happened to that young, awesome climbing Colombian from last year?

I'm guessing you mean Nairo Quintana ---

If so after he was number one stud in the Giro de Italia his teamdirector at Movistar decided Alejandro Valverde was their leader and decided to rest Quinatana. So, he wasn't even included on the team for the tour. They have talked about his potential and his age and (they say) he is going to be the man they build their team around for 2015 unless Valverde does something really special this year. So far that hasn't worked out.

More to the point - "What's happened to everyone?"

“Rveryone”

Does that mean them “everyone” or us “everyone”? :)

Quote from yesterday “Your handlebars..”

This has been a strange year in every way. I even saw the Devil early on in a flat stage. ? I’m about 3 stages behind but finally in the mountains. Seems to be a lot of rain this year too.

We need a new promising underdog.

Followed quickly by Acevedo.

This stage is taking a toll.

Vichot had abandoned earlier making it 3 so far today.

Does anyone know which stage of what year had the most abandons?

I guess it could mean both them and us. But I was referring to them. What’s really missing are the names. I think there’s still plenty of talent and that’s why no one is emerging as dominant. Sagan is an example. As good as he is and as much of a showing as he’s made over the last two years he hasn’t been able to grab a stage this year.

TdF live race coverage has the Green Jersey in the straggler group on the final climb.

I just don’t get it. How can Nibali ride away from the top contenders with ease? He doesn’t even look stressed! I didn’t used to be so cynical but after Lance, Floyd, Tyler, Jan, etc etc etc, I don’t trust any of them anymore. For someone to be that much stronger is a big red flag IMO. And, yes, yes, I know they test the yellow jersey and the stage winner every day but they tested Lance 100s of times and it was never positive...

The top contenders before stage one were Froome, Contador, Nibali (after a kick from his team), maybe Andy S, and Porte.

The others are gone and Porte had a really, really bad day today.

The winner of the TdF can never have a bad day.

I like seeing “new” names in most every sport and almost always root for “underdogs” — I think what’s not exactly working for me this year is the lack of any personality from Nibali ... I know nothing about him, he seems like a robot on a bike and I just am not interested in him. D9oes he do interviews? I do like Sagan, but he had the green jersey pretty much locked up a couple of days ago, so that’s pretty much a yawner too ...

I’m at the point now where I am just rooting for the other 2 podium spots ... hoping for Tejay for sure

I also totally understand the “skepticism” when seeing Nibali turning it up and sitting so cool in the saddle while most everyone else is at their breaking point

I think by nature of the endless training a good many cyclists tend to be a bit introverted, quieter, at least compared to other sports.

I remember people who liked the more out going Greg LeMond complaining about Miguel Indurain's stoic style and him sucking so much wheel. That was a bit odd at the time, I thought, because Lemond was one of the few riders who won the Tour without winning a stage.

I’m out of town this weekend and this cable doesn’t have the Tour. You all post lots so I can keep up.

NBC is also a big part of the problem, imo. They refuse to show the interesting and entertaining spectators and historical landmarks. Killjoys.
