"in front of a salon where children were getting their hair done overnight."
This is a peculiar reference.

If only they had gun laws....
Wait. What?
To: 5thGenTexan
Gun laws have little if any effect on crime statistics and probably increase them.
There is only one thing that drives crime stats; The available number of criminals.
Chicago has a higher per capita number of available criminals than Vermont where there are very few gun control laws.

“two-flat”
Is that what we used to call a “duplex”?
Modern American writing is hard on an old man.

As long as they aren’t pretty white kids, the media does not care.
Very hard to get the NPR crowd to demand “gun control” when the shooter is just D’Shawn Jackson shooting at some other gang-banger.
As long as it doesn’t come to their part of town, they dont care.

Chicago Speak a “two-flat” is a duplex with on unit on top of the other. “Duplex would be two units side by side with common wall.

I'll confess I've become sympathy impaired regarding this kind of violence.
These folks live in Democrat strongholds where political corruption is the norm. No one is willing to have an honest discussion of the real causes of the violence and no one is willing to talk candidly about the effects of the welfare culture.
Sadly, the cancer that is Chicago is spreading to smaller towns all over the midwest as Chicago residents move out to find better welfare benefits and a better drug market.

Democrats teach young students that they are victims in a country with an awful history. The students grow older and more hateful as they age. The future is bleak. Sex is fun and quick they are taught. Babies are made. Governments handouts are issued. And the cycle is reproduced.

“Two flat” is a colloquialism. “Four flat” and “Brownstone” are a couple of others peculiar to Chicago.
