Organizers of Netroots Nation, Americas largest annual gathering of progressive activists, took the wraps off of a major and welcome surprise this afternoon with the announcement that Vice President Joe Biden would be coming to Detroit to speak to the convention during a special Thursday afternoon general session.
It will also be Bidens first appearance at Netroots Nation. He was invited to participate in the Presidential Leadership Forum held in Netroots Nations second year, in Chicago (back then, the convention was known as YearlyKos), but declined to attend due to his desire to participate in another event. The other contenders for the Democratic nomination Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson, Dennis Kucinich, Mike Gravel all showed up.

nutkooks nation?
Hasn’t Detroit suffered enough?
He probably thinks it is another hair replacement technique...
Liberal politicians are doing what they need to do, by showing up and paying homage to the Yearly Kos gathering.
Will these liberal blogger types, step outside the cocoon of the convention center, and tour Detroit while they are there? To see what you get when you devote decades to implementing their favored liberal policies in a city?????
See that GOP, the Dems don’t alienate their voters they work with them to advance their agenda and don’t even bother talking of compromising with you.
Downtown Detroit and the riverfront actually look pretty good these days but its only because a whole lot of private sector money has gone into it. (not that the left can make the logical connections)
Ouch !
Will they present him with a silver engraved drool cup?
They’re also hosting the DNC 2016 convention.
Joe Biden speaking is a major and welcome surprise?
Must not take much to surprise these people or make them happy!
“Americas largest annual gathering of progressive activists”
Translation: a mob of dangerous kooks.
I thought it was pretty ironic they chose Detroit. The city liberalism made.
I wonder if he has any acquaintances to visit at the county jail.
