As we get ever so closer to the start of preseason camps and officially kick off the 2014 college football season, it's time to take a look at the head coaches whose jobs could be in jeopardy as they enter potentially make-or-break campaigns.

If this fall doesn't provide a sense of hope for their athletic directors and fan bases, these program-builders could be in trouble.

Here are the ten coaches who remain securely in a pressure-cooker entering the fall.

Of course number 1 is Muschamp at Florida. London at UVa is an interesting case. He can recruit but so far the talent has not translated onto the field. Sometimes London looks absolutely clueless on the sideline.

How is it possible that Bret Bielema (Arkansas) is not on that list after going 0-8 in the SEC last year?

Probably because it was his first year at AR. If he does another 0-8 then I bet he makes the Top 10 for 2015.

I expect Holgorsen to be gone and replaced by Tom Bradley at some point.

Of the others, Hoke better get it together. He loses too many games with the amount of talent he has. Hard to pick on the IU coach. It’s IU. What do they expect?

Muschamp is as good as gone after this season, imo. They don’t have the players to put up the numbers that are expected of them. FSU took them all.

Although he has yet to play a game, USC’s new coach Steve Sarkisian will be on the hot seat, since he was not a popular choice among many Trojan fans.

I wouldn’t put him on the list but I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bo Pelini have another emotional melt-down and be shown the door. Among the Cornhusker fans I know (and I live two hours south of Lincoln), Pelini’s support is lukewarm at best.

Steve Sarkisian will do just fine. Ogeron is an excellent coach, but probably not a long-term solution and Sark is.

It doesn't help Sark that the guy SC really wanted withdrew from the process only to re-emerge and take Sark's old position at Washington. As a UW graduate, I'm pleased as I can be that Chris Petersen after saying no to big-time suitor after big-time suitor said yes to the Huskies. Petersen is a wonderful coach who would have been successful anywhere but I think that he's a perfect fit at UW.

idiotic article...fact is most of those coaches, London, Chow and Muschamp being the top names, would’ve been gone long ago but we are at a time where college football programs do not want to pay, and in some instances cannot afford to pay, the buyout for fired coaches and its cheaper to keep them....

problem is Ogeron is one of the best recruiters in the nation- Sarkisian does not come close in recruiting...UCLA will steal all the top players...

I also can’t beleive Bo is not on this list. I think he was sure he was going to get canned after the Iowa game. I know I thought he was gone as well.

If they are 3-3 after the Michigan State game, the seat will be very warm under Bo’s backside. Fresno State, Miami and for sure Sparty are very loseable games especially if the turnover/special teams issues are not resolved.

You are definitely correct about the fan base being lukewarm on Bo. Looking back on last fall, I would say my family/friend group was about 70-30 for Bo must go.

Just a little inside info here for you. My best friend hangs out with a couple of people who are currently and formerly in the athletic department. These are guys whose names you would recognize if you are a NU sports fan.
They both told him that the scuttlebutt was Eichorst and Harvey were going to fire Bo after Tapegate. They said that Coach Osborne stepped in and saved Bo’s bacon, saying that he had heard the tape shortly after it was recorded and had disciplined him at that time.

That being said I am sure looking forward to the season. It’s the most wonderful time of the year.....

# 11 Kevin Sumlin Texas A&M - When Aggies everywhere find out that the only way Sumlin made it in the SEC was due to Johnny football, and A&M goes 3-9 in 2014 as their only wins are against Lamar, Rice and ULaLa, they will hang his skin on the rafters.

They also better watch out for ULaLa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDMxDUapbAI

Muschamp must have some compromising photos of Gator boosters to not have been fired last year. Ron Zook got run even with a 2-1 mark vs Florida St. Florida so bad last season UCF passed them for #2 in the state

>>A&M goes 3-9 in 2014

You must be a wishful thinking t-sip. The Aggies are not likely to win the SEC, but 8 wins is probably the low water mark. Sumlin does, however, need to show he has an actual commitment to defense.

>>their only wins are against Lamar, Rice and ULaLa

Going to be hard to beat ULaLa when they don’t even play them.

Texas A&M will be just fine. They were very young on defense last year and have had great recruiting classes the last few years.

Alabama gets great recruits, but many of them had great coaching in high school and don’t have as much upside as recruits at other schools because they are already close to their maximum potential.

Alabama stars are not exactly tearing it up in the NFL with a few exceptions.

A clear gain by the Huskies, no question but I'm not sure that it is addition by subtraction. Sark did a nice job revitalizing UW football after the Willingham debacle but I think that he had reached his ceiling. Sarkisian is a decent coach, not a liability, so the Huskies didn't gain from his loss but by the replacement with a much better coach in Petersen.

they had no chance of ever winning a P12 title with Sarkisian....Peterson will have them contending for the conference title in two years...

I agree with you on that. Actually, I'm more bullish than that - I expect Coach Pete to have the Huskies in the national title hunt regularly during his career there. I just don't think that Sarkisian is an awful coach.
