Wow, I’m the same way, although I could not grasp the Feanorian, haha. It may sound odd but to me the Catholic truth in the books lifts it so far above anything else I have ever read, almost as if, and I’m sure there is, a breath of Divine inspiration in the work. And what I mean by that is Tolkien’s own love of the Church, Christianity, his fellow man, hope and virtue. It seems more than just a story; to me, and many others I’m sure.

Thanks for sharing, there are many people who love the story but I imagined myself many times wishing to be a part of Tolkien’s T.C.B.S group, or having contemporaries such as he had.

Perhaps in the world to come.

So, is this finally the end of “The Milking Of ‘The Hobbit’”? Next up is “The Milking Of ‘The Silmarillion’”. You know it’s going to happen.

Hey, it’s JRRT that didn’t like Goblins, not me. I’m sure most Goblins are peaceful; it’s just the few extremists that give the rest a bad name.

I’ve read The Hobbit and The Trilogy every year since 1972, when I found the boxed four-volume set in an office supply store.

The Hobbit movies, in my estimation, are an expansion of the lives and history of the Dwarves, and I like the literary license of that expansion. I mean, were it not for the Dwarves in the Unexpected Journey, and Gollum’s entry, there would have been no LOTR.

Just sayin’.

If you lose your ability to allow literary license, and can’t accept another person’s perception of events as established by yet a third person, then you have lost much more.

I’m happy with all of them, though there are bits and pieces that don’t jive with my mental pictures, I won’t complain about someone else’s mental pictures. Especially since he makes those pictures come to life.

I think “The Silmarillion” would be too complicated for the general public. I think a lot would accuse Jackson of ripping off both GoT and The Clash of the Titans. I remember when I saw Dune in 1984 they handed out leaflets to explain a lot things.

No worries. They’ll just plug some Tolkien characters into the Plot-O-Matic and generate some CGI.

Who would you have play Galadriel?

Olga Kurylenko! Hubba hubba!

Or if she’s not available, Mila Kunis.

They needed the room to introduce a female lead.

Olga or Mila could probably play Lúthien Tinúviel but not Galadriel. Galadriel is blonde.

Here’s another synopsis: These Movies Are Nothing Like The Book.
