Well, based on what came later “”StarTrek” should’ve gone more than three seasons. The 1970 Brit sci fi series "UFO". There was a heavy cold war element to the alien threat combined with some psyops/mind-gaming similar to "The Prisoner" that, despite some of the cheesy "Thunderbirds" special effects, kept the show grounded in adult story telling.

Loved it. Stryker and that cool hair. Great outfits on the women on moonbase.
Check out the moonbase scenes and you’ll see some of the sets again on “Space 1999”.
And I LOVED watching “The Thunderbirds” as a kid.
