Dunno about everyone else, but I was determined to retire on the slopes of the volcano above Kailua Kona with a great view of the ocean. Spent a lot of vacations near the shore, and always saw all those houses up on the slopes wanted one.
Figured the daily view of the ocean had to be the ticket for some measure of peace in a world going to hell.
