A little unwarranted. This isn’t the 1100s, the Pope doesn’t have soldiers he can send in. In fact, maybe the Vatican should consider training a military contingent.

Part of me screams "yes". Another part says good works like this have to be done with the cooperation of a government. Otherwise I could envision Vatican troops being co-opted to support government's policies, stuff like helping the hordes of children over-running the US.

The Vatican might be best used as a conscience, not a military force.
