First of all, isn't there an age limit to be hired? It's usually 29 or 30, unless you have military time to apply. She's 39.

This person is a danger to herself, the other firefighters, and the public. More than likely, there's a job requirement that you must be 100% fit for duty, and she isn't. The article claims she was injured on-the-job, which in this case, she was injured while at the academy. She's been on light duty, but according to rules and regulations, she must be fit to return to full duty within a certain time frame. And if she is returned to full duty, she should be made to return to the academy, and complete the required qualifications. It sounds like she's planning on a career in disability.

That’s a whole industry in New York city. A few years ago they uncovered 100% of retired Long Island railroad workers were on disability. Punching tickets is a hazardous job you know, all that wrist action.
