One of my favorite Kirk Douglas movies was “In Harm’s Way” with co-star John Wayne. One can only imagine the arguments the liberal Douglas had with the conservative Wayne.

I just finished reading a biography of Wayne. Even though they were on opposite sides of the political spectrum, they got along well with each other. I really like ''in Harm's Way'' a lot as well. I think my favorite of Kirk's films was ''Lust for Life'', followed by ''Spartacus''.

He also was pretty good friends with Ronald Reagan as well! I remember when on the day of Pres. Reagan’s funeral and burial, they had flown his remains back to California to bury him at his ranch (or library). Both Kirk and Charlton Heston were invited, along with others; but neither Kirk nor Heston were able to come because of illness.
