Jayna Davis, a reporter in OKC at the time, wrote a fabulous book called The Third Terrorist that proved this very point

<><><

Jayna hung around here a bit back in the day when her book came out.

Answers to conspiracy theories tend to open up a lot of side issues, and when I asked her point blank, why would George Bush maintain the fiction (which she alleged), her answer was to read the book.

Except that the question isn’t answered in her book.

I was 5 in ‘63, and my dad died the same year. I became a pretty avid reader of the JFK conspiracy stuff, maybe as a result, who knows. They all suffered from the same thing Jayna’s theories suffer from. They all rely on speculations that require leaps of faith too far for me to jump. JMO.

From a more recent article she wrote

“Upon exiting the meeting, Rohrabacher phoned me and candidly recounted the details of Nichols’ stunning disclosures. To insure accuracy, I taped the conversation. Rohrabacher described the prisoner as apprehensive and hesitant to name the infamous third terrorist, but he offered not-so-subtle hints of foreign complicity in a crime that the government has classified as domestically inspired. When Rohrabacher bluntly asked Nichols to assess the plausibility of the multiple eyewitness sightings placing Timothy McVeigh in the presence of Iraqi soldiers in Oklahoma City, Nichols shockingly conceded that the central theory presented in my 2004 book, The Third Terrorist: The Middle East Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing, “could be correct.” “

Here is the link to the whole article which is really interesting to read.
