Too bad this didn’t happen in Bellaire, a suburb of Houston. The cops there routinely pick up strays in the middle of the night and the next morning they take them to my brothers veterinary clinic where they take care of them until homes can be found. Not all cops are dog haters. This happens about every 1 or 2 months
I had a Macomb County MI Sheriff Deputy knock on my door. She found a stray and someone thought it belonged to my neighbor who was not home. We sent 45 minutes trying to ascertain if it was their dog. It wasn’t so she then took the dog to the pound.
