Lucys family could not afford surgery, so they contacted a dog rescue group who found a pilot who was also a doctor and agreed to do the surgery.
A vet in Asheville volunteered to do the $5,000 surgery and even included transportation.
It was all through an organization called Pilots N Paws.

Very nice! I’m just curious It looks like a nice little doggie. Not sure what breed? Can little pooches be rescue dogs? Somehow I always saw pics of big rescue doggies ..... Anyway, superduper!

Animals have more worth to me than many humans and subhumans.

And just maybe, the family that has the dog has children who will grow up to have compassion for all living beings and also to learn that sometimes kindness is done in charity.
Doggie surgery: $5000 (no charge)
Flying in private plane: $ 1500 ( no charge)
Teaching compassion and charity to children: PRICELESS!

There is another group that does awesome work. Wings of Rescue.
Teeming and overfilled LA shelters are being helped by many many wonderful people - and me too. 150 deathrow dogs were just flown to Washington state from LA last week.

Just getting back...THANKS for a most excellent post! What a great story, the pix are priceless.
Rescue dogs are simply the best, and it's so heartwarming to know things like this giant dog rescue can actually happen...brings a tear of gratitude to my eye, lol!
