Fox news has a reporter with Stewart’s team and he claims Tony WILL race today.

Of course Fox says he is reporting from Watkin’s COVE. If I understood correctly he also said that Stewart’s team was working on the car involved in the accident and it will race at WG today.

STOP THE STUPID!

It would be surprising for Tony to be in the car today.

Would a team manager or owner risk it?

Tony Stewart kills driver on local race track

Canandaigua, N.Y. - The driver hit by NASCAR superstar Tony Stewart in Canandaigua Saturday night has died, according to Ontario County Sheriff Phil Povero.

Ontario County Sheriffs identify the victim as Kevin Ward, Jr., 20, of Port Leyden. 

The crash, which took place around 10:30pm Saturday at Canandaigua Motorsports Park, forced officials to suspend the evening's races.

Stewart, who has long been known for having issues regarding his temper, hit Ward, who had gotten out of his car, walked onto the track, and "gestured" toward oncoming cars.

A video of the crash shows Ward before being hit and hurtled nearly 50 feet. 

The driver, Kevin Ward, Jr., was dead on arrival to FF Thompson Hospital. Sheriff Povero said his parents were in the crowd watching Saturday night when the crash occurred.

Stewart, now in Watkins Glen, has been cooperating with authorities and was "shaken up," according to Povero.

The DA has been notified of the incident; no charges have been filed at this point.

A dirt track sprint car in a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, on a road course no less! Pray for that driver.

Looking at the video in slow/stop motion it >SEEMS< the tail of Tony’s car was swinging toward Ward. Certainly his front wheels were turned like he was correcting a fishtail.

Reports from fans at the track say Tony gunned the engine just before the accident.

My take is Ward was hit by and caught on the spoiler then fell underneath the right rear wheel. It’s possible Ward was trying to smack Tony’s car with his hand and got caught.

All speculation. We have to wait for the investigation.

OK, i watched the video several times, and when he gunned the engine it looked to me like he kicked the rear end out and AWAY from the guy not into him, more like he was trying to avoid him

To me it looked like his wheels were turned to the right BUT maybe he tried to go around Ward swerving left then right. Hard to say form the video.

i don’t watch the dirt races and will not pretend to be an expert. but, from my unknowledgeable viewing of the video - Tony’s car jerks after hitting Ward.

if he truly did not act out, he has a clean mind. but, i wouldn’t be able to sleep and would be unsafe behind the wheel of anything.

i doubt a dirt track like CMP can afford it but being Stewart was there, i'm sure a hundred phone cams etc were recording every minute

Tony was trying to be himself and he screwed the pooch.
It is obvious he wanted to throw some dirt on Ward but he messed up

Caution means just that. You better slow down enough so this stuff does not happen.

By the way Ward had time to unstrap and get out before they came around again which means the drivers had plenty of time to slow down.

If you don't like Tony fine, I don't like jimmy johnson but if this had happened to him I would be Praying for Kevin Ward's Family and jimmy.
