Redskins......Vikings
http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/comment/the-vikings-were-feared-for-a-reason-9241032.html
President Kaler:
I applaud your efforts to rid our society of the name Redskins. But please do not stop there. Please read the article I have included about the Vikings.
It is long overdue that the name Vikings be removed from the NFL team in Minnesota. As you are aware, Vikings were mass murderers and committed unspeakable atrocities. The name should no longer be either celebrated or tolerated.
From the article:
Signs are overwhelming that the Vikings waged total war against the Anglo-Saxons from the time of their first recorded raid in 789. These escalated by 865 into invasions by hundreds of ships bent on conquest and settlement. Wormald notes that the kings of East Anglia and Northumbria were defeated and then seemingly killed in a sickeningly gruesome Viking ritual known as “the blood-eagle”, which involved “ripping a victim’s lungs out of his rib-cage, and draping them across his shoulders like eagles’ wings”.
Sir, you are in a unique position to speak out about this issue and lead the way in changing the name from Vikings to something more acceptable. It truly is offensive to many people and we can do better as a society.
Thank you for your consideration.

What about Colts? Isn’t that offensive to fillies? What happens if a woman tries out for the Colts and has to endure sexism with that name. Same with Cowboys. End sexism in America, now.
Cool letter, BTW. :-)
