I love it when liberals bitch and moan when the root causes of their inevitable price increases are exposed. But, then again, this is Minnesota so they'll keep electing Marxists to do their bidding. (This is like the restaurant in California?? that put a specific line-item charge on every receipt that showed the added cost of providing their employees with health insurance due to an Obama Care regulation going into effect.) Michael Savage is correct: Liberalism is a mental disorder. It completely rots a person's brain and prevents them from functioning normally. Memo to liberals: A minimum wage that is artificial and not based on free-market principles is unworkable. (Not to mention that the minimum wage unconstitutional.) If the minimum wage actually worked in decreasing poverty, then why don't we set the minimum wage at $1,000,000 a year? (Yes, that's a rhetorical question.) I'm not like Obama; I don't think there should be a minimum or maximum wage. Liberals have yet to realize that if you increase costs on businesses, they'll just pass those costs on to their customers. I think I figured out why so many liberals are environmentalists. It's because they think money grows on trees./rwa

So these idiots are outraged because their enemies (everyone with a brain) refuses to camouflage the results of their policies??? If they think it’s what people want, what are they afraid of?

Secondly, since when do waitstaff get the normal minimum wage that applies to non-tipped employees anyway?

Hmmmm....wonder why you couldn’t pay waitstaff piece-work. Percentage of their tabs.

That proves they prefer to remain ignorant.

“Liberals have yet to realize that if you increase costs on businesses, they’ll just pass those costs on to their customers.”

On an earlier thread, the Governor said something like “this minimum wage is intended to be covered by the employer - not the consumer.” As if that doesn’t make him an idiot enough, it is Mark Dayton, of the huge clothing store in Minnesota (son, grandson, or something). One would think that he would understand that EVERYTHING in a business is paid by the consumer.

Every business should do this. Itemize every government imposed expense on every customer invoice they print up. Really get customers' hackles up.

Wade Luneburg of the MN State Council of UNITE HERE Unions told the Star Tribune this week. “Putting [minimum wage] fees on tickets and passing the cost on to consumers directly is strange at best, and creates an ‘us against them’ mentality while ordering dinner.”

Guess what, Wade? It is "us" against "you!"

Eat there and reduce the Tip you planned to leave by $.35.

The Wait Staff is already making up the difference in Salary.

No harm, no foul, unless you’re a Liberal.

Please, show me a business that does not pass on increased costs to the customer. Correction - show me a business THAT IS STILL IN BUSINESS that does not pass on increased costs to the customer.

My shop customers understand that if I have to pay more to get a sweater from a wholesaler, they will have to pay more to get it from me. However, they also understand that if I get an incredible deal, they will get an incredible deal, too. That’s how it works if you want to stay in business and not lose your shirt.

If there is some fantasy land out there where business owners can continue to “absorb” cost increases and still be profitable, without having to increase the cost to the consumer, let me know. I’ll move there tomorrow.

Liberals: No, no, we didn't raise the minimum wage so that we would have to pay more. We raised it so you would have to pay more. We're supposed to pay the same. You can just make less profit. Our money belongs to us. Your money is really stolen from your employees. Get it? And by the way, my glass is getting low. What's a guy gotta do to get a refill around here?

What is unique about the Oasis is that the cafe wants its patrons to know where the higher prices are coming from

That takes courage, even though it may actually boost their business from supportive conservatives.

Michael Savage is correct: Liberalism is a mental disorder.

I agree, but many people also cannot grasp the simplest economic concepts. I've tried for two decades now to explain to my wife that she pays "both halves" of Social Security, without any success.

Money confuses people. I try to talk in terms of people trading goods or services, rather than exchanging money.

I believe the libs are overeating. If they don’t want to pay the fee they shouldn’t have pushed for it.

It is strange to put the fee on the bill because it shows what the libs have done? They have to work in the shadows.

It creates an us against them mentality, yes, it does. The sane people against the deranged people. We can’t let people know the libs cost them money, now can we.

I seem to recall that phone/elec utilities were banned by law from showing their customers what gov mandated costs were on their bill to consumers.

Some years ago a number of liberals drew up plans for determining how much people in certain jobs/professions should make predicated on their worth (the liberal's idea of worth) to society. For instance, a number of them thought school teachers and nurses should make as much or more than businessmen or other people who made a lot of money.

The whole intent was "fairness" of some sort. Of course, government would be directly involved to make sure that the right people were rewarded. They, liberals, never understand the consequences of their screwball actions.

Here in Massachusetts (which I am in process of leaving), voters decided in a referendum to lower the state income tax rate from 5.85% to 5%.

Naturally the liberals among us were outraged that taxpayers would vote themselves a tax decrease at the expense of the welfare moms and illegal aliens. So they somehow managed to get a checkbox added to the state income tax form in which people could elect to pay at the original, higher tax rate of 5.85%.

Well guess what? Apparently not a single liberal elected to check that box off. I guess they were expecting the working people to "do the right thing." Local radio host/columnist Howie Carr took great pleasure at election time using FOIA to pull the candidate's tax returns and point out that ZERO of the liberals running for public office elected to pay at the higher rate.

When will the public realize that ALL costs of a business are passed on to customers?

Higher min wage = higher prices.
New insurance requirements = higher prices.
Higher taxes = higher prices.
