I bet the cause of death of this kid will not be publicized like the fact that she died after receiving a routine shot was publicized.

You don't think the shot killed her?

My friend's beautiful daughter went bowling with her boyfriend, pulled a muscle, Mom took her to the doctor and got a shot of some painkiller. Girl died from it within 24 hours. Mom won a product liability case but could never stand to spend a cent of it.

Friend is now dead and gone, and I don't remember what the painkiller was…doubt it's on the market any more, as there were other cases.

Point is, pharmaceutical drugs do kill people. In fact, legal drugs kill more people than illegal drugs do. Of course, they are misused in most cases. But something like Provigil can be as addictive as cocaine.

No, it is highly unlikely that the vaccine had anything to do with her death, and far more likely that whatever was giving her a sore throat killed her.

Certainly, a drug (like a painkiller) that targets or blocks a signaling or metabolic pathway can have some very serious side effects due to consequences of the pathway being blocked, effects of non-target pathways being impacted, and the effects on the liver and kidneys which must remove the drug from the body.

A vaccine, however, is not a drug with pharmaceutical action. There are different kinds of vaccines, but what they all have in common is that they contain a pathogen or part of a pathogen that cannot cause an infection. When the body sees the piece of pathogen, the immune system responds just like it would to the real living pathogen. Since the immune system has a memory, it remembers that piece of pathogen so that if the real thing comes along later, the body recognizes and kills it before it has a chance to cause illness.

There is a world of difference between a vaccine containing a bit of protein and a drug designed, for example, to block nerve signaling.

In general, I do not advocate putting foreign substances of any type into one's body without a compelling medical reason to do so, but I do advocate the use of vaccines to prevent diseases. Vaccines don't expose the body to anything that it can't be exposed to through natural means.
