Best commercial(s) of all time?

Posted on 08/09/2014 7:52:03 PM PDT by MNDude

We all see tens of thousands of commercials in our lifetime, but there's probably a few that really standout... Where's The Beef?, Apple's 1984, Mikey likes Life cereal, etc. What's your favorite commercial(s) of all time.

That’s the ad with the white girl. There was one with a black girl. Her Dad is eating it and says, “great fried chicken.” Then she says the slogan. I’m thinking it’s now banned because it shows black people eating fried chicken which caused Je$$e Ja¢k$on a fit.

Oh yeah, you’re right! I’ve gotta go watch it on youtube to refresh my memory. what a hoot! I still can’t believe the commies complained about it. Well, perhaps I can because Commies are congenitally humor impaired.

I’m fairly sure the Japanese version was a second city TV sketch. (phew, grungy!)

I think this commercial showed only once after 9/11.
I still cry when watching it.

This is one of the worst--a Democrat ad inspired by the reconciliation by Gen. Dwight Eisenhower, the GOP presidential standard bearer for 1952 and his erstwhile opponent, Sen. Robert A. Taft (R-Ohio). There is at least one other commercial on this theme. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ArQJlT3XyI

I think it was Noxzema. The blond chick was Swedish beauty Gunilla Knudson (!).

As for myself, I always thought the best ad ever produced was by Pepsi. There's a family going visit friends/relatives on the farm, and getting out of the car and approaching the residence, a little boy sees puppies!

After the usual Pepsi blah-blah, the final scene shifts us outdoors, where about 20 puppies are literally all over the little boy, who greets this turn of events with numerous belly laughs.

That ad is somewhere on the web, and I have it on my hard drive upstairs.

I always thought it was the greatest thing.

Hard to say, but I miss the days when commercials were fun and entertaining not asinine, derogatory and disgusting like todays. But I think I will say the Hamms Beer Bear ads were enjoyable.

Bud Light - Thomas Edison brings the just invented electric light bulb to his professor in a dark, dingy basement. Expecting excitment and praise, Thomas give the prof the light bulb.

He responds in a feeble voice, “That's very nice Thomas, but I WANTED A BUD LIGHT!!

They would have people who obviously didn't look Jewish in these ads. Very clever. These ads were placed in the busses and subways in NYC back in the 50's and 60's

Groucho Marx did quite a few DeSoto ads on his TV show, You Bet Your Life. Speaking of Chrysler, Here's one from 1958 touting the new Push button Torqueflyte transmission. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but those buttons tended to come apart in the dash and could be a PITA to repair.
