Best commercial(s) of all time?

Posted on 08/09/2014 7:52:03 PM PDT by MNDude

We all see tens of thousands of commercials in our lifetime, but there's probably a few that really standout... Where's The Beef?, Apple's 1984, Mikey likes Life cereal, etc. What's your favorite commercial(s) of all time.

So you think anyone with a Southern accent is black?

And the Dodge Challenger commercial with ‘George Washington’ going after the Brits. The narrarator says: “America got a couple of things right - cars, and freedom”.

I remember the Shake and Bake ad but it was a White girl with a Southern accent.

Never saw the one with the white girl here in New York City, but I clearly remember one with a young black girl and her black family.

I’m fairly sure it is. I just googled “wendys soviet fashion show” and several sites that deal with video came up. Can’t be sure though because I’m posting from a kindle keyboard, and it doesn’t do video.

There was a 1970s Clark Bar (I think) commercial where a cartoon candy bar was running from a consumer, stops as he passes in front of the screen, reaches up to the corner of the screen and starts to peel it back to escape. He fails, runs off, and is no doubt consumed off screen.

I only saw it once. It was actually a little startling.

Nestle's make the very best -- "

Farfel:

"Chaw - klet!"

I like the Dairy Queen Blizzard commercial where the girl scout is selling her cookies door-to-door and her inner voice tells her it’s her big moment to close the sale. So she makes her pitch and the customer’s inner voice screams at him to “GET THE THIN MINTS!”

I think the one from 1998 might have been the one with the black girl and family. The little girl says: “Mama made Shake ‘n Bake, and I helped”. It’s the last one listed below.

From Wikipedia..

Shake ‘n Bake is particularly noted for its television commercials in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, starring such child actors as Carly Schroeder, Taylor Momsen, and Philip Amelio. In the ads, the aforementioned children help make Shake ‘n Bake with their mothers, enthusiastically exclaiming “And I helped!”

Advertisements for Shake ‘n Bake in 1981 included Ann B. Davis, who played Alice the housekeeper on The Brady Bunch. The ad copy includes the catchphrases, “Gotta be crispy, gotta be golden, gotta be juicy” and “You just shake then bake, and that chicken’s so crisp and juicy and golden it makes me look golden, if you know what I mean.”[2]

In 1990, two commercials were produced which show what pork chops[3] and chicken[4] look like after frying. They then show that pork chops and chicken are crispier, juicier, more plump, and more tender when used with Shake n’ Bake than frying. They end with “Why fry? Shake n’ Bake.”

In 1998, a new commercial was tried with a different catchphrase; “Mama made Shake ‘n Bake, and I helped”. This was only aired a few times and is the least recognized commercial.
