The death toll from the worst Ebola outbreak in history has jumped by almost 200 in a single day to at least 2,296, the World Health Organisation says, warning the toll is already likely to be higher.
The WHO said it had recorded 4,293 cases in five West African countries as of September 6.
It still did not have new figures for Liberia, the worst-affected country, suggesting the true toll is already much higher.
The WHO said it expects thousands of new cases in Liberia in the next three weeks.
The infection casualty to fatalities rate (CFR) has jumped with the latest WHO report. 2296/4293 = 53.5% fatality rate despite a huge jump in the number infected.
Ebola deaths are rising faster than Ebola infections, and infections are going exponential, _without_ Ebola case reporting from Liberia.
I think the lack of data from Liberia means we have hit a critical mass of fomite surface contamination in Liberia’s urban public and private spaces such that there is little difference that and true airborne Ebola transmission for people lacking BHL-4 PPE.
May Almighty God help those people.
sure glad we didn't close the border or shutdown flights.. especially with that 2-3 week gestation period 34 posted on Sep 09, 2014 05:39 PM by sten (fighting tyranny never goes out of style)
