"He got the idea for the Ice Bucket Challenge from another young man who suffers from the disease, Patrick Quinn, who lives in Yonkers, N.Y. Frates and Quinn found each other online."
I’m certain that your motivation is completely charitable, as I suspect that fit would generate quite a few pledge.
Not unlike very publically bringing soccer balls and teddy bears to the illegal kids entering USA.

Yes, dumping ice water on your head and sending money to ALS is just like giving toys to illegals.
Now, if you don’t care for the cause, fine, but this challenge has greatly increased donations, whether some here like the method/cause or not.
Liberals love style over substance. They love to take stands that make them look caring (its for the poor, the children, the planet, blah, blah, blah...), but require no personal sacrifice.

The increase in donations has been dramatic.
Maybe you’re just wrong about this one.
Had one person just mailed the check without a video nor challenging others, that trail would just end at that point.
So, yeah, they're annoying, but they're easily avoided, so i don't have a problem with them.
The concern regarding stem cell research using aborted fetuses is valid. One of my Christian friends, while awaiting the icy water to land, showed his check to an ALS -related organization that supports his own pro-life values.
Here’s the link to the organization

Totally agree!
These days it’s all about a “cause” to find personal legitimacy...
Pathetic!
