Maggie Gyllenhaal, who stars in the new miniseries The Honorable Woman on the Sundance Channel, which centers on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has become increasingly disillusioned with Barack Obama.
Gyllenhaal, who backed Obamas presidency in both elections, said in a recent interview with Time magazine released Thursday that she used to really believe in the president, but now shes not sure what he believes in anymore.
Look, I get it, I know. Its a complicated job, Gyllenhaal said. I could never do it. But I hope for a leader who will stand up and be unpopular.
Gyllenhaal, who said she is trying to keep her personal politics away from the media, appeared in an anti-NSA announcement, along with Oliver Stone and John Cusack, last October.
In her timely new show that premieres Thursday, she plays a British Jewish character in the espionage thriller who attempts to create peace between Israel and Palestine. In her Time interview, Gyllenhaal said she really does believe in the possibility of reconciliation.
What Ive been doing is trying to read as much as I can and to think and feel each day what my position is. Im not sure that I will continue to feel this way as this conflict continues, but at the moment I feel like the show I made, the piece of art I made, does articulate really beautifully so many things I feel about the conflict.
That’s the problem with the Obamatons. Obama NEVER had any core conviction. At least that he could admit. He is pro-muslim, anti America, Anti Israel, and a statist commie. He ran on vague “hope and change” and even admitted that he is an empty screen that on which people project anything they want. And idiots like Gyllanhal fell for it. Good she’s waking up but she helped get that scum bag elected and we are all paying the price.
Watch her vote for the Dem again next time as well.
Good point. Obama has not changed one iota. The problem is what he said and what they heard are two different things. They are now just starting to pay attention and don’t like it.
She’ll probably still line up to vote for Hillary. Or Kucinich.
