This month, a federal judge allowed North Carolina to put into effect new laws that would make it more difficult to vote. Most of the American public didn't notice.
The Republicans pushing to restrict voting rights nationwide are betting on such inattention. Emboldened by a recent Supreme Court case limiting the reach of the 1965 Voting Rights Act, GOP legislators have moved swiftly in numerous states to cut early voting and same-day registration, and to require ID cards at the ballot box.
Democrats claim these measures will discourage young and nonwhite voters from voting, who tend to vote more often for Democrats. GOP legislators insist they're only worried about voter fraud and the integrity of the electoral system.

So... adding a “smidgen” of integrity to an increasingly fraud-ridden process is .. “rigging.”
Well, that certainly got THAT part right!
Wonder if Michael Brown has been registered yet?
Ballot stuffing by college kids (who defend their actions by saying “teh Republicans are just gonna steal it ANYWAY”) needs to be challenged.
He tells the truth. They do “vote more often for Democrats.” Two, three, four times for each candidate. Sometimes at multiple locations. Hence the need for voter ID and stopping this fraudster “same-day registration”, which is not voter registration at all.
Let’s let people put initiatives on the ballot on election day by turning in their petition lists on election day.
How would that work out for ya...
“Democrats claim these measures will discourage young and nonwhite voters from voting, who tend to vote more often for Democrats. GOP legislators insist they’re only worried about voter fraud and the integrity of the electoral system.”
Well the author got that right.....they do tend to vote more often.....in the same election!
My goodness. Is there a more ridiculous (yet effective) example of how idiotic liberal racial-spin is. Lets review for a second. If someone doesnt have an ID, this means they dont:
-work
-drive
-have a bank account or participate in normal commerce
-dont receive any government benefit (including SSI)
-are not in school
-do not own or rent property
-do not have a utility of any sort
Who exactly are these “disenfranchised” yearning to vote.
Amazing isn’t it?
Of course, the founder of their ideology is the master of twisting the meaning of words.
Attempting to STOP “rigging elections” is now “rigging elections”...
I’d tell them to bring forth anyone that falls into all of your categories and we’ll provide them with an ID at State expense.
Last time checked ... criminals too must present an ID ... maybe some criminals are special ... cnn.
Rock the Vote has never been non-partisan. They claim it so they can dodge taxes.
They are a Democrat effort with liberal positions on all of the issues. Ever look at their "voter resources"?
Instead of trying to circumvent laws, why doesn’t Rock The Vote work to register voters ON time and help them secure state issued IDs?
Exactly. Which many states (including Texas) who are setting up voter ID laws are offering to citizens. Its such a ridiculous argument, but again, sadly effective once youve completely emasculated an entire group of people.
Does this moron think that those “young and non-white voters” can’t produce ID for liquor and beer?
Why does he think they produce it to vote, too?
Why does the democrat media not suggest that republicans are trying to make it harder to vote...ILLEGALY
These measures are designed to prevent dead, multiple, and illegal voters, major Democrat constituencies, from voting and are violations of the civil rights of large numbers of Democrat voters.
