BETTING ON BALL GAMES. . . . Any player, umpire, or club or league official or employee, who shall bet any sum whatsoever upon any baseball game in connection with which the bettor has a duty to perform shall be declared permanently ineligible.

Rule 21d is the cardinal rule of baseball.

Rose has lied about his role every step of the way and if his lips are moving, he's lying now. If Rose is to be admitted, admit Shoeless Joe Jackson, then wait 90 years to admit Rose.

Yup, and he also vehemently attacked the integrity of every person involved in the investigation. I'm from Cincinnati and he was my favorite player as a kid, but I'd never let him in.
