How RAK, UAQ police saved the day
A 22-year-old Emirati woman was saved by police after her car was stuck in cruise control at 120kmph while she was heading from Sharjah to Ras Al Khaimah.
Police risked their lives when they drove their vehicle in front of Aysha Hassan and told her to bang her car in the rear of their vehicle to slow it down.
The frightened Aysha was reluctant to this but the trick worked and her car stopped. The woman's brakes stopped working near the National Paints Bridge in Sharjah.
She phoned Umm Al Quwain police, who tried to calm her down before sending patrols to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, where she was heading.
One of them phoned me again and told me that he would drive in front of me while another police car was behind me, she said.
The policeman then told me he would slow down so my car will bang into his vehicle. I was scared and tried to dodge his vehicle but I had no choice. I hit the police vehicle and may car came to a standstill.
She said traffic police from Umm Al Quwain, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah joined hands to calm her down through the plight and save her life.
She was screaming. She was in a bad psychological state but we tried our best to calm her down before acting to stop her car, said Major Sultan bin Youkha, acting director of Umm Al Quwain traffic police.
Here’s a similar story...even the same 120 mile per hour speed...it must have been horrifying for the driver...but it ended well (in Iowa a year or two ago).

By the way, it ends like this....
As for Ulvestad, she wants everybody to know that Yes! She tried the brakes and to put it in neutral and she wanted to shut off the engine!
But none of it worked.
Bless them. Especially the ones from China who mostly drive lexii ( Lexuses? Lexususses? Lexussuses-r-usses?)
~They let women drive?~
It is about as sensitive question for them as gun control in the US.
Tomorrow this story would be used to back female driving ban, along with a studies that female driving is leading to adultery, premature aging, birth defects and so on.
I have yet to see a car that did not have a manual way to unlock the door..

A similar story was about a man leaving a store and seeing a woman in distress in the parking lot. She was upset because the battery on her fob was dead and she could not open the door to her car. ...The man took her key and unlocked the car door.
“Yes! She tried the brakes and to put it in neutral and she wanted to shut off the engine! But none of it worked.”
It would have worked ...
You loose power assist on steering and brakes.
LOL. was at a go cart track in the Wisconsin Dells. A bunch of Muslim women were driving on the track. End of their ride, they get diverted over to the side to get out. EVERY ONE of them slammed into the waiting carts full of riders at full speed. It was hilarious. All you heard was “ ow” “ ow” “ ow” with the chain reaction whiplash. It’s not a camel Fatimah.....
Read the article...she really did try all of that; because of the design of the car, NONE of it worked (push button start among other things).

Any of them would have worked. Nothing in the design of the car prevented them from working. Operator error!
......re her car bumping into the back of the cop car, I was wondering the same thing!
