Because he armed himself, got a group together and went looking for a fight?

In any state, even those with Stand Your Ground laws, if you arm yourself and go out looking for a fight, when you find one your ability to plead self-defense is greatly reduced if not eliminated.

Also because UK has “knife control” laws by which his simply carrying the knife is itself a crime. I don’t necessarily agree with those laws, but they ARE the law there.

I live in Florida, the state with the most horrible SYG laws, as we all know. :)

Despite these laws, if I have a beef with my neighbor because I think he stole something, and I get my homies together, arm myself and go confront him, and somebody winds up dead, I’m in serious trouble, even if he is the one that initiates violence.

That’s because I initiated the confrontation. Since my group outnumbers him 4:1 and is armed, HE would have a very good case for self-defense if I or one of my boys winds up dead.

How is confronting a thief and demanding back what he stole looking for a fight? You  are blaming the victim instead of the thief (who started this all) with  a long rap-sheet and who struck first blinding the father in one eye

The father is damn lucky he brought a knife or he would be dead. You think the now dead thief would have had an ounce of remorse if he killed the unarmed father?
