Did I read once that Texas law allows one to use deadly force in situations that few,if any,other states allow? I'm almost certain I did.
No he wouldn’t, in Texas he would have been convicted as well.

Gotta disagree there. He shot through a closed screen door and she was not attempting to enter his house, steal anything, or was making threats of any kind.

No so long ago a jury in Texas convicted a homeowner for doing almost the exact same thing and sentenced him to 20 years.

Shooting someone though your front screen door is a very weak “castle doctrine” position....
I think he would have been convicted as well... But gotten a shorter sentence....
I’m in Texas. And I’d vote guilty too.
I think even Texans can look at the facts here and make the right call.
