Sentences beginning with the word "though" usually continue in the subordinate clause with a "yet" or "nevertheless" or such, so as to mitigate the statement made in the primary clause.
There's also an "in" missing. I believe your headline should thus begin:
"Though in August there has been approximately an 80% increase in Ice Volume over August 2012..."
and continue with
"...nevertheless, [e.g.] Global Warming is still a threat..."
Of course, it is only the headline of your posting, so I guess that one could overlook a certain degree of confusion.
