I’ve seen it in my family as well, so I know that one drink isn’t a problem. It’s the following drinks that are the problem.

Don’t start. Alcohol kills millions of people.I never had the taste for alcohol. However, my folks died within a week of each other due to cirrhosis of the liver 35 yrs ago.

Is the rest of your life that melodramatic?Not mine, but alcohol consumption can certainly guarantee you a life of melodrama--you and your family members, even those that don't drink. Like four-year-olds.

My Grandfather used to enjoy a scotch or two in the evening. Not "A Bottle", just a drink or two.
When he was in his early 70s, his cardiologist told him that he needed to stop. "Drinking is bad for you", you see.
Grandpa fired the guy, on the spot. "What did he think, it would stunt my growth?", was his comment, approximately. He continued to enjoy a Scotch - or two - in the evenings, until he expired at the ripe old age of 87.
A drink or two (not a bottle or two....but a drink or two) is good for your circulation. Only a fool would think otherwise.
In fact, when I get home tonight, I believe that I'll hoist a Scotch to Grandpa. :-)

Of course, the issue is that some of those people who drink in moderation go on to drink heavily and that shortens their lifespan.
