Did the NFL indefinitely suspend Ray Rice because they saw the video or because we saw it?

Did the NFL suspend Ray Rice indefinitely after he was given an initial 2 game suspension because A.) they saw the video inside the elevator, or B.) because we saw the inside-the-elevator video?

If it is because of A, then why did they formulate a 6 game suspension to be followed by banning for a second offense and not apply the 6 game rule to Ray Rice? If this is because the inside-the-elevator video surfaced, then will the NFL have a system for those who are caught by video and those not caught by video?

In the end, IMHO, Ray Rice should have been given indefinite suspension when the outside-the-elevator video surfaced, and not just a 2 game suspension, and let him earn his return like Michael Vick did.

No, i am not basing it on just my husband. I know more about it thanks to him giving me more access. My husband, for example, hasn’t died yet. Look up the man who had to have everything Steelers at his wake. Husband knows because he follows the local news and of course has other family contacts.

Really, yes, it is a broad brush even if in a more personal sense. Yes, it irritates me that Steeler fans arrogantly think Steelers are God’s gift to football and everything else. And I do not mean just my husband.

Do not tell me you have no one supporting e.g. Roethlisberger. You are upset by some film of some fans cheering Rice, yet you all likewise still have millions in sales of Big Ben shirts. How do you know there were no protestors re Rice? Or booing elsewhere? There is definitely Rice-exchange, something i never heard of before, people trading their jerseys.

I am not a rabid fan. I do not base my schedule around Ravens or any football team. I do not even own any merchandise, which NFL loves about Steelers. I am really surprised by Rice, he just does not seem like that kind of person, and I am irritated he is getting such flak while frankly more serious infractions nary a mention.

Actually, I finally got a really slow look at that film. Rice does look indeed as if his hand hits her face. Could hardly tell what anything is, but I guess that is it. Too bad. Bottom line, he is gone.

I was also very disappointed in Rooney. They seemed like such a good family, good to the fans. His dad was also more in my bag, the horses. Horses have better morals than all these human players.

Listen, Devil Dog, sometimes we just have irritations. Yes i got that off my chest. I did not mean to direct it at you, it is just sort of an outlet you provided. Sorry about the clumsy make-up, iPad is not very good for reading and writing. I hope we do not have to have hard feelings. Football really isn’t worth that, or else I would not have married my Steler fan. LOL.

We found an issue we can agree on!!! Football is not worth being upset about. No I am not upset at you nor do I hope you are upset with me. We've about played this issue out as far as it can go and I think we can part as friends and worthy verbal adversaries... : )

:)

Sorry about the game last night. My husband isn’t too happy, nor our son...but they go on (these days, anyway; he’s learning). We had DH’s friend over too, who is a Raven fan and typically comes when these matches happen. I picked Steelers to win (I think about everyone did) in our “pick-em” pool. I knew it would be about even chances, especially the way they squeeked by Browns (yikes) last week.

If NFL would be really consistent maybe we wouldn’t have all these disagreements!

Glad to part in a good way. Best of luck to you.

"Sorry about the game last night."

You have nothing to apologize for. Heck, I didn't even watch the game. I'm not that much of a fan of the NFL anymore because of these incidents. I think I've read that there have been 56 incidents of NFL players involved in domestic violence since Goodell has taken over and have received a total of 13 games suspension. When a league cares more about someone smoking doobies than preventing their players from hitting women I have little desire to support them. I hope Goodel gets fired, but I won't hold my breath.

Take care...

A persson who commits abuse at home is more likely to be abusive at work—ergo, he/she is not a valuable employee.

It’s very common for abuse victims to defend their abusers.

Many abusers are quite adept at convincing their victims that they *need* their abuser to protect/care for them, and at isolating them from others.

The proper blame for that phenomenon rests on the abuser, not his victim.

I think perpetrators of violent crimes (robbery, rape, murder, child abuse, domestic violence, etc.) should expect to lose their jobs.

Because, if I had my druthers, all perpetrators of violent crimes would be imprisoned (those who commit non-violent ‘crimes’ which do not harm anyone or damage private property should be released, thus freeing jail space for the truly dangerous to society.
