...standing under a 55 gallon drum by pulling the cord to get wet, soaping, and rinsing. it was so damn cold, you did not linger or use too much water. We avoided showers until we could smell ourselves.

Did you get sniped at out there? I did. We had the same set-up at Hill 29 just off the Redball twixt Danang and Tam Ky. The AK cracks were still off at least 600 yards or so. But when you can hear em whizzing by, you know they've got a bead on ya.

Not sniped at during the daylight. learned not to go out to the pee tubes at night with a flashlight though. The base was in a valley (if you are not familar with it) and the east and south hills were not secure.

Got my wake up about peeing and a flashlight hearing a round whiz overhead. It had gone subsonic, from way out wherever they fired it from, but it got my attention.
