Yes it does. Saladin was a Kurd. His history is romanticized but he was every bit as ruthless and Islamist in the Levant as Moslem Brotherhood would be and ISIS is.

You are correct about Saladin. It was a conquest and reign of terror just like ISIS.

This is what the Eastern Roman Empire was facing.

The first crusade was just, a response to savagery.

When Saladin captured Jerusalem, he gave Christians 30 days to leave. Contrast that with Crusader victories.
