Heavy Weapons Reach Peshmerga Forces on Frontlines

A large number of heavy weapons have been distributed to Kurdish Peshmerga forces on the frontlines. Peshmerga forces are expected to start using them against the Islamic State (IS) insurgents soon.
 
A source told BasNews that on Tuesday, a cache of heavy weapons was transported from Erbil to the frontlines to be distributed among Peshmerga forces.
 
The source also confirmed that the shipment includes mortars, tanks, and machine guns among other weapons delivered in a convoy of more than 30 vehicles and trucks.
 
“Most of the weapons were sent by the international community to the Kurdistan Region as support for Peshmerga forces battling IS insurgents,” said the source.
 
The source also mentioned that Peshmerga forces will soon register huge gains using these armaments against IS insurgents in the areas around the Kurdistan Region’s border.
 
Since Islamic State (IS) has started attacking Kurdistan region, western world has began sending military weapons to Kurdistan region and its Peshmerga forces among them, US, UK, France and Germany.
