Everyone has guns in Alberta, the problem is these companies won’t let us bring them to work.

They should at least have an armed guard on the property. I hope the company has their a** sued off. It’s bear country for God’s sake!

The Beast in the Garden: The True Story of Predator’s Deadly Return ...
Predators from coyotes, lions, bears, and ... have returned after decades of bounty hunting had driven them far from human settlement.
Soon will get even worse.

Each generation of predators will be less afraid of humans and attacks will increase.

Wonder how many co-workers watched the hour long attack without firing a shot [ gun free zone ? ] or grabbing a shovel, axe / some other weapons.

// Outdoorsmen should recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear droppings.
Black bear droppings are smaller and contain lots of berries and fur.
Grizzly bear droppings have little bells in it and smell like pepper. //
Bears repeating.

Isn’t all of Canada a “gun free zone?” Mrs. Wasp and I were forced to carry cans of Home Depot’s WASP SPRAY on our trip through Canada to Alaska a couple of years ago because guns were not allowed in Canada, period!!!

Maybe the bear was REEEAL hungry. If he bit her and drew blood, he was hardly going to walk away, even with all that noise and distraction.... I'm just guessing.
Going into the bear’s terrain without a weapon is about as dangerous as walking into gang turf without a gun and with wads of cash hanging out of your pocket!!

Very sad...Had one person had access to a rifle her life could have been saved and the company should have provided that being it’s bear country.

Occupational Health and Safety, as well as Alberta Fish and Wildlife, continue to investigate the incident, trying to find out how Weafer's death could have been prevented. Duh? How about "with a large bore firearm"?

The Beast in the Garden: The True Story of Predators Deadly Return ...Great book, just finished it. Classic study of what happens when Libs ban hunting of mountain lions. They are indeed coming back and this time they are not afriad of us.

12 GA. rifled slug in a Remington 870 with a 20 inch barrel. At that range, nearly foolproof. Very affordable and rugged too.

Typical contemporary Canadian cheesy cowardice. I can't believe these folks are from the same country and gene pool as the Canadians who fought in both World Wars.
