No sympathy for the NFL. They brought it upon themselves. They thought that thug-ball was good for business.
Of course, if they had balked at going down the road to thug-ball, they might very well have ended up disciplining (or not signing) a disproportionate number of players having a certain ethnic background. Which would have been a huge no-no.
So they're kind of caught in a tough place.
