I am still running Pale Moon w/ add-ons like Adblock Edge, Better Privacy, DoNotTrackMe, Flashblock, Ghostery, NoScript(though I disable some Java because I like to watch video), and Privacy Badger FireFox.
I do have problems with my settings under “Tools” tab “Options” - “Privacy” tab “History” settings not staying where I want them. It seems to default back to “Always Use Private Browsing Mode”. I do like to accept some cookies from some sites (and them manually delete them after the visit). Some sites just don’t work unless you accept cookies (like FR). So I just try to manually delete the cookies as soon as I drift from their pages (or shut down PaleMoon where it purges the cookies when shut down).
I don’t seem to have problems with many pop-ups (especially from FR).
I appreciate the advise and info, thanks.
I have a few other issues with Pale Moon but they are fairly minor, if I don’t have that Task Bar problem with other laptop Win 7 will do comparison with Opera and Pale Moon. I am tried of switching browsers, they are all buggy to some extent and Chrome is not the answer for me.
Personally, I don’t bother with cookie management, too much effort for too little gain. The biggest exploit vectors in a browser are the content plugins like Flash, Java (not the same as JavaScript as unintuitive as that sounds), SilverLight, and anything which might open a native application on your computer (if clicking a link to a MS Word document opens Office you’ve got trouble) and of course the ubiquitous PDF file (seriously consider removing Adobe Acrobat from your machine, its just terrible, find an alternative.)
JavaScript is mostly benign, its used in exploits as a facilitator, and can be used directly against weak websites to steal your cookies for that website only. I once recommended keeping it disabled, but these days many websites simply require it to function (terrible design imho.)
I’ve been sailing these seas since 1993 via macintosh, windows and Linux, not once have I ever been infected.
Ok thanks, never heard of it, I will have a look see.
Norton SafeWeb does not find a problem. https://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=www.ussjallao.com%2F
I know the proggies, and agree with you. All I can do is to minimize my use of Chrome on my new Android phone. I use IE on puters, but that is not flawless either. I use FF as a last ditch backup, if needed.
