All regions that border on Donbass and Crimea, the two regions that are occupied by Russia, are involved in preparation of defenses from possible military conflict. Any of these directions can bring danger. That is why Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions are getting ready as a priority.
We present a five minute video clip from ICTV showing volunteer efforts at building defences against a potential Russian invasion. [ENGLISH SUBTITLES]

This is really pitiful. They are trying to dig 60 km of trenches with a small number of people with hand shovels. That will stop nothing.
Then 300 civilians have signed up and trained to be partisans (guerrillas) to oppose a Russian invasion. They will last about 15 minutes in serious combat.
It is touching to see their dedication, but I think that they need some realism.
As for the US, under Obama we will not even give them military supplies.
The only hope for Ukraine is a change in Russia; but the more a bully Putin is, the more he is liked at home, because he typifies the Russian character: a bully.
USA announced a $46 million worth of military aid few days ago, but for some reason it has to be “non-lethal” goods, so no Javelins. There seems to be some stigma in giving stuff that goes bang, but I am sure all the other stuff is useful too.
USAToday reports the package contains “body armor, helmets, vehicles, night and thermal vision devices, advanced radios, patrol boats, counter-mortar radars, rations, tents and uniforms”.
I’ll ask my people about this tomorrow. If Dnipropetrovsk goes that is pretty much the ball game
This is very sad to see Ukraine has its problems but is way ahead of Russia in every way
