I work in the CG Image business and we got to try one of these out at work.

I tried the roller coaster and a hang glider simulation. With the noise canceling headphones and the ability to look all around you, you are completely removed from reality.

On a conscious level I knew I was sitting in my office but if I looked up I could see the fluttering fabric of my glider and if I looked down, the Grand Canyon.

The sound of the wind and the peaceful beauty was so relaxing and disorienting because, while it was so real, I knew I was still sitting in my office.

Wierd, scary and totally the future.

I tried one out at my kids programming school. “Rode” the VR roller coaster. Very impressive .

There's a Disney ride based on hang-gliding. It features various aromas as you swoop low over orange groves or pine forests. It won't be long before this single-player hardware can do the same.
