That is the cover photo from the Beach Boys first album. I’m thinking 1963 or 64. This is before they added Al Jardine and got rid of ? Marx.

Pendleton Wool Surf Shirts, worn by the ealy BBs, called The Pendletones:

I have 12-13 of their shirts for cool/cold weather wear. Pricey, but they last forever.

"A ridiculously heavy surfboard?"

That was the standard back then. Surfing came east from Hawaii and out there they used the long boards, called "guns" to handle the heavier surf.

I had one. It made surfing very easy for beginners like me. It weighed maybe 60 pounds. It certainly didn’t require six men to carry it in matching outfits!?

Beach Boys... that’s Brian Wilson in the middle. As to the year, sometime in the early sixties.

Brian Wilson had a crush on Ronnie Spector (Ronnettes) and here is the Beach Boys doing one of her songs, I Can Hear Music

Here is the same song done by Ronnie Spector (Ronnettes).

Here is my favorite rendition of that song.

Ronnie Spector was married to Phil Spector (Wall Of Music). (He kept Ronnie chained and locked up until she escaped.)
