I am from a small town south of Tupelo. It is about a 3-4 hour drive. We made sure our girls got to see their grandparents every other month. Then in the summer , I would take them down for 2 weeks. It was a love fest between the grandparents and granddaughters. They loved being together. Now, my parents are gone and one of my daughters is too.

I’m now the oldest in my extended family.

Don’t see grandkids maybe twice a year.

My oldest relative is 85 and a cousin. His mom was my mom’s sister and his dad was my dad’s nephew. My brother is 80. We all grew up in the same town. My 2 grandchildren live here now but grew up in Seattle. One great granddaughter lives here and the other one lives in a small town about 25-30 miles away. My cousin lost 3 sisters a few years ago then his mom died. I can not believe how few of us are left. Kinda sad.

I was a climber-—trees, top of corral fence, a thingy my dad used to pull motors out of cars.

Me too - I used to make a fluffernutter sandwich and go down the street to where a could climb up the to the roof of a detached grage to eat it - loved looking at things from the higher perspective.

That reminds me of something else. Our chicken house had a tin roof. I would climb on that and slide down. Was hot in the MS summertime. I would climb up in the barn loft and jump down. Precious memories. Thanks for reminding me.

I forgot my oldest relative. She is a cousin to my mom and is 108. My sil and I were talking about her the other night and she thought Zula was that age. A wonderful Christian lady.
