hmm... i seem to remember the pre-microsoft era differently as we were up to our knees in licensing issues...

if you’re a programmer and want to give your code away, you should be free to do so, but no user is ENTITLED to free software, any more than one would be ENTITLED to the free result of anyone else’s labor.

No one--neither me nor the article said anything like that. You're bringing up strawmen to bash them down.

My quote "You bought the software, you got the code also." This means that the product purchased included more than just a pre-compiled binary. It made the software more useful.
