The Fireable Offense of Brady Hoke
SB Nation ^ | September 28, 2014 | Drew Hallett

Michigan should fire head coach Brady Hoke tomorrow.

Entering the 2014 season, there were multiple columns written by members of the media and opinions voiced by fans that Hoke was on one of the hottest seats in America. After earning an 11-2 record and a Sugar Bowl victory in his debut season in 2011, Hoke's Wolverines had won only 15 games total in 2012 and 2013 and appeared to be regressing after dropping five of their final six contests last season. Their general conclusion was that Hoke would be relieved of his duties at the end of this season if Michigan failed to win at least eight or nine games and notch one road victory against either Michigan State or Ohio State, something Hoke had been unable to do in his first three years.

Hoke and the staff did not remove QB Shane Morris when it was obvious he was hurt then had a concussion.

And winning is the only important thing right?

This is college football. It is a game. I hope he is helping these young men grow in maturity and character. The salivating mania of needing to win to be a good coach is so much nonsense at this level. I have seen plenty of ‘winning’ coaches that turn out thugs and punks with no degrees and a sense of entitlement

So you assume that because he’s a horrible coach that he must turn out guys of good character? Would you even recognize a picture of this man or Michigan Stadium if you saw a picture?

This guy is so obviously under qualified for the job.

As an avid Michigan State fan, I say give him one more year to rebuild the program...

And getting thumped by Utah - as well as Minnesota - at “the big house” no less.

He had good records at Ball State and SDSU - maybe the big stage of Michigan is too much for him. Maybe he got lucky inheriting good young players at the other two schools, I don’t know. Maybe some of both, but he just doesn’t project an image that seems up to the Michigan job. Neither are his on field results.

Nah, you don't stay at SDSU when a job like Michigan calls. It's one of the top jobs in the country. Now, perhaps Michigan should have left him at SDSU, but no body on the planet stays at SDSU when Michigan makes an offer.

The starting QB for Michigan is (was) a white guy. The new starting QB is black. I’m just sayin’...

I think if Hoke loses one more game, he will be fired by the Michigan Board of Regents. It does not help Michigan Stadium is no longer playing to a full house in recent games, either.

The whole Big Ten looks pretty crappy right now, cannot compete with the size/speed of, say, the SEC. Michigan has to lose this “only Michigan people coach at Michigan” arrogance...Hoke seems like a decent guy... who would make a great High School coach.

I don’t disagree with any of that.

And Hoke may be a decent guy, though this article doesn’t make it seem that way. My view, from 30 thousand feet, is that a guy who looks like that and who has a squeaky non-commanding voice - is not gonna play well in a media intense job. That may not be fair, but image is very critical in a media intense job.

Hoke will never be confused physically for Nick Saban or Urban Meyer.

Leaving the QB in the game was a huge mistake.
Coach should be fired. Any observer could see the QB was really hurt.
