Having cruised half a dozen times, we have noticed international staff appear to be more and more from Muslim nations.

It's the same nations, they are just Muslim, now.

Fully agree. My comment was in no way meant to lessen the severity of the act. I hope he stays locked up for many years.

A rude, NUDE, tourist. I'm guessing the SOB comment is BS and his attack was a result of her participation in this nudist cruise.

I never noticed any Muzzie staff on the Celebrity or NCL cruise lines.

You mean you got to know them so well, exchanging information about religious orientation / confession, that you were able to "make a call?"

Honestly: Unless they are fair-skinned, brown-to-blond-haired people with names like "Sven" or "Gerhard," I don't think that you can be sure.

I went on a cruise a few months ago, and was struck by the fact that no Americans work on cruise ships. None at all. Not sure if they recruit overseas to hold down labor costs or why this is. Everyone spoke English, but none were Americans on a ship leaving from an American city. Just an observation.

I think it can be safe to say that you can thank the unions for the fact that there are VERY few (if any) American Flagged ships in the Cruise Line business.

Why handle ‘spoiled’, high priced English speaking help when all the ‘others’ are available....

I guess WE could use ‘inner city’ cab drivers, convenience store workers etc as a prime example over who get hired OR will do the work.....

lol No I was judging them by their clothing and accent. I don't recall anyone named Allah cleaning my room.

So, you had three data-points: a) Clothing, b) accent, and c) name (e.g., "Allah").

a) I believe that most of the crew wear UNIFORMS.

b) Unless you are referring to the fact that you excluded crewmembers with obvious European accents (e.g., Danish, Swedish, etc.) from being Muslims, I don't know what help accents would be. Lots of Muslim immigrants have, in the meantime, even French accents. And someone from the Indian sub-continent? Unless you are really good at distinguishing a Pakistani accent from an Indian one...

c) Names: Well, yes, I suppose that you could "make a call" based on the name (I am assuming that you've noted the names on their nametags - but I wonder if they aren't given pseudonyms like "Mary" and "George" - like helpdesk operators - in order to mask exactly that fact).

But I still find it hard to believe that you've found a cruiseline with predominantly non-Muslim crewmembers - nowadays, they all recruit from the poorest countries, and those are largely Muslim.

Regards,

Gee, do you think?

I wonder why Americans wouldn't want to work 70 hrs/wk for $2/hr?
