Exactly. I try my best not to roll my eyes at speeches like this (i.e. Prof. Barash’s); despite being self-proclaimed guardians and champions of “scientific method” and “logic” (just ask them, and I’m sure they’ll be happy to tell you!), logic doesn’t seem to be their strong suit.

“X is theoretically possible, so X must be what happened” (since it contradicts the religious and ethical ideas which we find repulsive).

Right.
