Argentina president claims US plotting to oust her

Argentinian opposition politicians have accused the country’s president, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, of being “completely out of touch with reality” after she gave a rambling televised address in which she claimed the US may be behind a plot to overthrow her government and possibly even assassinate her.

“If something should happen to me, don’t look to the Middle East, look to the North,” Fernández said during the address on Tuesday night, in which she alluded to an alleged plot against her by local bankers and businessmen “with foreign help”.

Fernández had previously claimed to have received death threats from Islamic State (Isis) because of her friendship with Pope Francis. In last night’s speech, however, she seemed to suggest the threats against her, received in three emails to Argentinian security officials, had come from the US.

Her claim comes in the wake of a rapid deterioration of Argentina’s already rocky relationship with the US after the country went into default in August.

Argentina has rejected paying $1.3bn (£990m) awarded by New York Judge Thomas Griesa to “vulture fund” investors who refused to accept a “haircut” on Argentinian bonds from the country’s previous default in 2001.

“I’m not naive, this is not an isolated move by a senile judge in New York,” said Fernández. “Because vultures look a lot like the eagles of empires,” referring to the bald eagle, the national symbol of the US.

With economic stagnation, Argentina’s peso currency in free fall and an alarming rise in crime levels, Fernández has seemed increasingly beleaguered in the last few weeks.

When the socialist/communist economies in South America go bankrupt, they blame the U.S. And some liberal idiots here believe them.

Don't cry for her, Argentina.

The Old Anti-American card—always useful for any government that gets in trouble. We don’t do that anymore. With Obama in power—the last thing we want to do is stop a fellow socialist. But the card still works with the Peons.

Signora Presidente Fernandez can whine and moan as long as she likes. However unless Argentina pays its debts , Judge Griesa will effectively exclude Argentina from access to international banking. Virtually all banks do business in the United States. If any of them handle however briefly cash paid for Argentine exports, their funds are subject to confiscation at Judge Griesa’s discretion. Argentina has found as Iran has learned that it is virtually impossible to conduct international business without credible banks. Just pay your debts and creditors are very forgiving.

If Obama wants to oust a communist it must be because the alternative is Islamist.

Are there Islamists in Argentina?

It would be a smart thing to do if she could be gotten out but since Obama is so much like her, we did nothing.

Socialist rulers like Cristina are the only reason Argentina is not a prosperous country, which it should be. But its what the people want. They voted for it.

Yes it worked so well, the MSM, the professors, and the rest of the humanist/progressives believe it will work here in America. How many times does socialism in any form has to fail before these bubble heads will realize it.

I passed through Iguazu in 1989. I flew back to Buenos Aires with a planeload of them, led by an ayatollah. Yes, there are Islamists in Argentina. I can only imagine that their growth there has been exponential.

They will never realize it. Most of the professoriate
in the humanities and social sciences have spend their
entire working lives as undergraduates, graduate students,
and professor and have no real life work experience, no experience in running a business, and except for chairing a committee no supervisory or executive experience.
So of course they think they know everything and can run the world.

Truth is the muzzie scum are trying hard to break in but are having difficulties. I do speak out every chance I get.

Unfortunately Telemundo/Univision highlight immigration over real news(broadcast in the USA and mexico) but in SA its a different matter and folks are informed to a degree.
